Your savings, your union,
your future.

THLDD Teachers' Co-operative Credit Union serves teachers, staff and the wider community across Twifo Praso, Twifo Hemang and Jukwa — pooling members' savings to provide affordable credit to one another, and returning the surplus to the people who created it.

A registered co-operative society — members' funds, governed by members' own elected board.

Who we are

A credit union built by teachers, for their community

A credit union is not a bank. There are no outside shareholders to satisfy: every member holds shares, every member has one vote, and the surplus the union earns comes back to members as dividends and better rates.

From our head office at Twifo Praso and our branches at Twifo Hemang and Jukwa, we help members build a savings habit, meet school fees and emergencies without resorting to costly lenders, and invest in their families' futures.

One member, one vote
Every member has an equal say, whatever their balance.
Surplus shared
Earnings return to members, not to outside investors.
Known to each other
Decisions made locally, by people who know the community.
Accountable
Audited books and an elected board answerable to members.

Our purpose

“To encourage thrift among members, to provide credit at fair and reasonable rates, and to give members the opportunity to improve their economic and social conditions through their own co-operative effort.”
Thrift
Regular savings, however modest.
Fair credit
Loans on terms a member can meet.
Education
School fees met without distress.
Community
Money that stays and works locally.

What we offer

Savings and credit, on members' terms

Every product below is funded by members' own savings and governed by the rules members set for themselves.

Regular savings

A day-to-day account you can pay into at any branch or through a field agent, earning interest while staying within reach when you need it.

Share capital

Your stake in the union. Shares earn a dividend from the year's surplus and determine how much you may borrow.

Fixed deposits

Put a sum aside for an agreed term and earn a higher return than an ordinary savings balance.

Ordinary & emergency loans

Affordable credit for planned needs, and a faster facility for the ones nobody plans for — assessed on your savings record, not on collateral alone.

School fees & salary advance

Term-time facilities timed to the school calendar, and short advances repaid from salary through controller deductions.

Field & mobile banking

Our agents collect deposits and loan repayments where members work, issuing a receipt on the spot — so a trip to the branch is never required.

Joining

Becoming a member

Membership is open to teachers and education staff across the district, and to others in the community who share our common bond. Groups, associations and church societies may also hold accounts.

What to bring
  • A valid photo ID (Ghana Card, voter's or passport)
  • One passport-sized photograph
  • Your staff number, if you are a GES member
  • The entrance fee and your first share contribution
1
Visit any of our three offices

Call at Twifo Praso, Twifo Hemang or Jukwa — or speak to one of our field agents, who can start the process where you work.

2
Complete the membership form

We record your details, your next of kin and your nominee — the person who would receive your savings — and open your share and savings accounts.

3
Pay your entrance fee and first shares

Your share capital is your stake in the union. It earns a dividend and sets the level of credit available to you.

4
Start saving — and borrow when you need to

After a qualifying period of regular savings you may apply for a loan. Members can follow their balances through the member portal at any time.
